PLAYMOBIL® stimulates children all over the world to make up stories, impersonating characters and experiencing the world in miniature for over 50 years. At all times emphasizing the creative and educational value of their toys, PLAYMOBIL® wanted to bring children's imagination to a digital world.
Creative educational children's stories.
PLAYMOBIL® wanted to connect the analog world of toys with the digital world, based upon childlike imagination and without comprising children's creativity and preserving its educational dimension. Together with PR agency Walkie Talkie, Lunar found a creative digital way to bring the stories to life.
Interactive online audio book.
Inspired by classical storytelling, we created The PLAYMOBIL® Stories. This interactive online audio book was read by an announcer from the national children’s broadcasting network Ketnet and supplemented with emojis so (grand-)parents and children can easily follow along. The stories contribute to the children’s learning process and inspire children to continue playing and come up with their own storylines.
Children were a central touchstone to the website's development, so extensive testing with young kids provided the necessary feedback for the interface. The lively stories, funny emojis and familiar Ketnet voices enraptured the children and kept them enchanted.
Shortly after the launch of PLAYMOBIL® Stories, it turned out that children have a never-ending imagination. In the first month the online audio book was published, we reached 7,900 users, more than 23 hours of stories have been listened to and 34,000 pages were viewed.
